Although we are in the heart of winter there is still lots of activity at Whittle Knight & Boatwood.

Last week we were advised that the Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill has reached its second reading but without any change, despite all the submissions received. It now appears extremely likely that this Bill will pass in its entirety without any further changes. This is disappointing news, considering the number of amendments the government have proposed, in particular, the change to the fixed term. We will do the best we can with these changes as they come through. For those of you that haven’t already, please read through the link below:

Healthy Homes Bill

The other busy project we are working through is the Healthy Homes assessment inspections. For those of you who have not responded to our emails regarding this, we will be in contact again next month.

Whilst the deadline has been extended to 1 December 2020 for landlords to include a statement of their current level of compliance with the healthy homes standards in new or renewed tenancy agreements from this date.

The date for when any work needs to be completed has not changed, and remains at 1 July 2021. For those of you who are going to provide this Healthy Homes information to us, we would remind you of these timeframes.

Student Season

Here we are at that time of the year again – we will be going live with our student advertising from 31st July. Already we are seeing some keen interest, and we also have quite a few students wanting to renew.
